Improvs...

...is a series of low-budget features about relationships in crisis that will:

involve varying degrees of improvisation, i.e., there will be as much scripting as is necessary, to be determined on a project-to-project basis;

use minimal casts (sometimes as few as two);

use minimal crew;

use minimal sets (sometimes as few as one);

showcase up'n'coming talent whenever possible;

be shot on DV or Super16, as determined by location and content;

involve mentoring on the part of the crew and other participants;

primarily be made for cable and/or network TV, but may, in some cases, be released theatrically.

A note about the improvisation:

actors will be cast, in large part, for their improvisational ability;

actors will be given an opportunity to develop their characters in conjunction with the author;

actors will have input into their characters' storylines;

actors may improvise dialogue with direction;

the author will develop the story and outline the scenes;

all participants will be credited appropriately for their input.

(NB: Interested cast and crew may submit CVs and/or resumes to improvfilms@yahoo.com with the understanding priority consideration will go to those who live in the greater Toronto area.)

"The most important thing in acting is honesty. If you can fake that, you’ve got it made." George Burns
